Suitability for a hair transplant depends on several factors, including the cause and pattern of your hair loss, the quality and availability of donor hair, your medical history and your expectations from treatment. During your consultation at Crown Clinic, these factors will be assessed carefully before a treatment plan is recommended.
A natural-looking result depends on careful planning, appropriate hairline design and the precise placement of transplanted follicles. Factors such as your facial proportions, existing hair, hair direction and donor characteristics are considered when planning treatment. The objective is to create a result that blends appropriately with your existing hair and overall appearance.
Hair transplant procedures at Crown Clinic are carried out under the care of Dr. Asim Shahmalak, Consultant Hair Transplant Surgeon, together with the clinic’s experienced surgical team. Patients are assessed individually, with the treatment approach planned according to their hair loss pattern, donor area and clinical requirements.
Hair follicles used for transplantation are normally taken from areas that are more resistant to the effects of pattern hair loss. These transplanted follicles are intended to continue producing hair over the long term. However, hair loss may continue in non-transplanted areas, which is why careful assessment and long-term treatment planning are important.
The cost of a hair transplant varies according to the technique used, the number of grafts required and the individual treatment plan. A personalised quotation is provided following consultation and assessment, once the clinical team has established the most appropriate approach for your needs.
Hair transplant surgery is generally performed under local anaesthetic, which is used to minimise discomfort during the procedure. Patients may experience some temporary tenderness, tightness or swelling during the early recovery period. The clinical team will provide detailed aftercare guidance and advice on managing any expected postoperative discomfort.
As with any surgical procedure, some degree of scarring can occur. The appearance of scarring depends partly on the technique used. FUE typically leaves small individual scars within the donor area, while FUT generally results in a linear scar where the donor strip has been removed. The likely appearance and positioning of any scarring will be discussed during your consultation.
Hair transplant results develop gradually. It is common for some of the transplanted hairs to shed during the early stages of recovery before new growth begins. Initial growth may become noticeable after several months, with further improvement in coverage, density and hair maturity developing progressively over the following months. Individual timelines can vary.
