Our Surgeon
Leading Hair Transplant Surgeon Dr. Asim Shahmalak. All of our surgeries are performed in our state-of-the-art clinics by world famous, highly recommended and accredited hair transplant surgeon, Dr. Asim Shahmalak.
He is the only UK hair transplant surgeon recommended by Tatler Cosmetic surgery guide 2015. Dr. Shahmalak provides various types of hair loss treatments in our Manchester and London clinics.
Crown Clinic
We are one of a few clinics in the UK to offer eyelash transplants. This is helpful for patients who have suffered scarring as a result of road traffic or industrial accidents.
We also treat many patients who have permanently damaged their eyelashes after suffering from Trichotillomania, the compulsive plucking of eyebrows, eyelashes and other body hair.
We also specialise in eyebrow restoration, treating women who have permanent damage to their brows or simply because they want a fuller brow.
We aim to restore the natural symmetry of the patient’s face.
Research & Charity
At Crown Clinic we use all the latest hair restoration technologies. Dr. Shahmalak has been an honorary teacher and examiner at the University of Liverpool.
He is proud to be assisting scientists in vital new research for stem cell hair transplants in the UK, which will benefit future generations. Dr. Shahmalak is involved in an ongoing hair follicle research programme in collaboration with Professor Ralf Paus and his team at the University of Manchester.
Professor Paus’ team are doing pioneering work into hair follicle biology, specifically looking at what influences hair growth and the role of epithelial stem cell populations.
The team is investigating the biology and pathology of the hair follicle as a microcosmic miniorgan in which many of the fundamental problems of biology can be studied in an exemplary fashion. Current research includes investigations into the neuroendocrine properties of the human hair follicle, their impact on mitochondrial function and hair follicle immune status, and the use of adult stem cells populations associated with human skin appendages for regenerative medicine purposes.

Afshan Shafi Clinic Manager
Afshan has been part of Crown Clinic from the very beginning, working closely with Dr. Shahmalak since the clinic was founded. Her long-standing dedication to the clinic and its patients is at the heart of everything she does. As Clinic Manager, Afshan is often the first point of contact for patients and clients. She brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and reassurance to her role, especially when supporting more complex cases. Afshan has completed Level 4 Trichology training and is also trained in Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP), making her a highly valued member of the Crown Clinic team.

Ella Waddle-Stenton Theatre Manager
With 30 years’ experience in the hair transplant industry, Ella brings exceptional knowledge and expertise to Crown Clinic. As Theatre Manager, she plays a key role in supporting both patients and the clinical team, combining professionalism with empathy and clear communication. Ella has also helped train theatre staff and, in her role as Compliance Manager, regularly reviews clinic policies to help ensure the team continues to meet high standards of care and compliance.

Charlotte Halliwell Senior Hair Transplant Technician
Charlotte is a valued member of Crown Clinic’s surgical team, bringing more than seven years’ experience in the hair transplant industry. She has worked alongside Dr. Shahmalak since 2020 and is known for her patient, empathetic and friendly approach. Her approachable nature and commitment to patient care make her a valued asset to the Crown Clinic team.

Kelly Downes Senior Hair Transplant Technician
Kelly joined Crown Clinic in 2018 and trained under Dr. Shahmalak. As a Senior Hair Transplant Technician, she is involved in all areas of the operating theatre and takes particular pride in the precision and quality of graft placement. Her commitment to maintaining Crown Clinic’s high standards, together with her positive contribution to the wider team, makes her a valued member of the clinic.

Tariq Siddique aka Sunny Senior Hair Transplant Technician
Tariq Siddique, also known as Sunny, joined Crown Clinic in 2025 as a Senior Hair Transplant Technician. With 17 years’ experience as a lead nurse and hair transplant technician in Pakistan and Dubai, he brings a wealth of clinical knowledge and hands-on expertise to the surgical team. His specialist skills and patient-focused approach make him a valued member of Crown Clinic.
