Both were completed in five to six hours without complications, with the small scars concealed by the remaining donor hair at the back of the head.
The Story of Alan
After retiring from teaching, Alan decided he wanted to restore the fuller head of hair he had enjoyed throughout his working life.
He explained:
“I am a retired teacher and I felt that I have had hair throughout my working life and would like to have a full head of hair in retirement.”
Alan’s first step was a consultation to establish whether he was suitable for treatment and to discuss his questions.
“The first consultation was very simple. They explained if I was suitable for the procedure and they answered all my questions.”
Following his procedures, Alan said:
“The purpose of the first procedure was to cover the crown of my head which did not have any hair covering. This was completed with excellent results and changed the whole profile of my head to what it used to be when I was in my early twenties.
The results were so good I returned to have the front of my head done, which turned out to be as good as the first procedure.”
Alan's Hair Transplant Procedures
Alan underwent two separate hair transplant procedures, the first focused on his crown and the second on the frontal area of his scalp.
-
Crown Restoration
The first procedure was designed to restore coverage to Alan's crown, including recreating the natural direction and whirl of the hair in this area.
-
Frontal Restoration
After being pleased with his crown result, Alan returned for a second procedure to restore the front of his scalp.

Recovery & Growth
Alan reported no complications. The small scars remained concealed by the surrounding donor hair, and after approximately two weeks the treated areas had healed.
Alan's Experience at Crown Clinic
For Alan, restoring his hair had an impact beyond his appearance, helping him feel more comfortable socially and become more active during retirement.
On his recovery, Alan said:
“Both procedures were completed in five to six hours without complications. Any scarring being very small and covered by the remaining hair at the back of my head. After two weeks all spots had healed over and no one noticed I had anything done until my hair started to grow through.”
He said:
“Having had my hair restored has changed my life. I feel much more comfortable with myself in all social situations. This confidence has allowed me to become more active in retirement, which has raised my enjoyment with everything I do.”
He added:
“I would recommend this procedure to anyone thinking of having a hair transplant. It is quick and easy and can be life-changing.”
Dr. Shahmalak was particularly pleased with Alan’s crown result, where creating a natural-looking hair pattern requires careful placement.
Dr. Shahmalak said:
“I’m very happy to see the excellent and fascinating results of this patient. To perform a hair transplant on the crown is difficult as we have to create a whirl to portray a natural look. When I did this for this patient – it has changed his life.”
